WJ23KVS Wood Jewel Kaksoispuukko -- Carbon Steel Scandi Grind -- Curly Birch Handle -- Leather Sheath -- Finland
The Wood Jewel Kaksoispuukko WJ23KVS is a traditional handcrafted Finnish Lapp double knife set made in Kolari, Finnish Lapland, north of the Arctic Circle. Designed by Kauko Raatiniemi, both knives feature carbon steel blades with a Scandinavian grind and handles crafted from curly birch with reindeer horn pommels -- carefully selected natural materials that are as beautiful as they are durable. The large knife measures approximately 20.5 cm overall with a 9.5 cm blade; the small knife measures approximately 16.5 cm overall with a 6.0 cm blade. Both are housed in a single brown leather deep-pouch sheath with twisted leather thong, in the Sami tradition. Combined weight: approximately 210 g.
Focus: Wood Jewel is one of the last artisan knife makers in Finnish Lapland, established in Kolari at the heart of Finnish Lapland. Each knife is handcrafted using traditional methods passed down through generations by the Sami people. Curly birch -- a rare, noble material from the boreal forests -- gives each handle a completely unique grain and texture: no two knives are identical. The Scandi grind carbon steel blades at ~59 HRC deliver a remarkably fine edge that is easy to resharpen in the field with a simple stone. The deep-pouch leather sheath in the Sami tradition secures both knives safely and provides authentic, stable belt carry.
